The Angry Birds get violent in live-action movie trailer spoof

With releases on a laundry list of platforms, a Super Bowl commercial, and millions of adoring fans, the Angry Birds franchise is absolutely huge. It's so beloved, in fact, that an animated feature film is already in development. And while that feature will undoubtedly cling to the franchise's cartoonish look, independent director Nick Murphy decided to put his own spin on the Angry Birds formula by producing a live-action trailer.
Turning the cartoon characters into real life heroes and villains gives the short spoof a more dramatic flair, and as you can see in the video above, the action dial has been ratcheted up to the max. In his teaser, Murphy turned the angry avian crew into a team of female assassins bent on retrieving a suitcase of Fabergé eggs. But, just like in the iPhone bestseller, a band of nasty pigs — men in pig masks, in this case — try their best to spoil the fun.
Fans of the series will notice that each bird carries its strengths over to its human counterpart; The blue bird uses a scattershot weapon, while the yellow bird is best for precision attacks, and so on. Unfortunately, there is essentially zero chance that an actual full-length film based on Murphy's story will be made, but we can always hope.
